Jetty 77, Queenstown

Jetty 77, Queenstown

I stumbled upon this derelict jetty whilst walking around the Botanic Gardens in Queenstown. I have titled this shot Jetty 77 as close to this site my wife and I found a notice to develop announcement. In the spiel it mentioned they were proposing to replace a derelict jetty (commonly called jetty 77) with a larger L-shaped jetty. Hence the title. Knowing that this jetty wouldn't be there for too long I wanted to make sure that I photographed it!

Unfortunately it started spitting that evening, but I still wanted to shoot this jetty! I headed out with my camera, tripod, filters and an umbrella to protect it all! This shot was technically quite challenging due to the rain (and me having to hold an umbrella) as well as the jetty being quite unstable which meant it was difficult to perform long exposure shots as any movement by me caused the jetty to wobble. During this shoot I actually dropped my filter holder with filters in while trying to attach it after taking my circular polariser off. I was expecting to hear a big splash in the water as there was a significant gap between the pieces of wood. Thankfully they ended up resting on the two pieces of wood.
